dress up days

Red Ribbon Week is almost here! That means dress up days for the students at Lincoln Elementary.  But why do we celebrate Red Ribbon Week? Red Ribbon Week is where counselors around the world tell children to stay away from drugs and smoking. They tell children to stay healthy by getting good sleep, exercising, and more. Miss Seeklander, the school counselor, said, “I hope my students would learn the importance of living a drug free lifestyle and finding healthy coping skills for whatever life throws at them.”

Red Ribbon Week was inspired by Enrique (KiKi) Camarena who worked as a Drug Enforcement Agent. He was kidnapped and killed by the drug cartel. Red Ribbon Week honors him each year at the end of October. On Red Ribbon Week some schools might have dress up days or activities. Lincoln Student Council and Miss Seeklander chose the dress up days, activities, and more.
