Presenter Veda Tucker with students and family members at the community presentation

All it takes is one kind word, one kind act, to be the difference that someone needs.

That’s the powerful message shared Wednesday night at the Rachel's Challenge community presentation at Aberdeen Central High School.

“I’m asking you to speak with kindness because your words have power,” said presenter Veda Tucker. “If someone is standing on the edge of life, your words have the power to either push them over the edge or to pull them back. That's how powerful our words are.”

As part of her visit this week, Veda also worked with students at CHS, Holgate and Simmons middle schools.

She shared the message of the Rachel’s Challenge program, which was created in honor of Rachel Scott, a victim of the 1999 Columbine school shooting who left behind a legacy of compassion.

Thank you, Veda, for delivering this message of kindness and compassion to our schools and our community!
