Our Aberdeen Central Hall of Fame inductees and nominees represent our best and brightest and hold a special place in our hearts. Their successes inspire our current students and demonstrate that they too can achieve their dreams. The CHS Hall of Fame Scholarship is part of our legacy.
We are navigating uncharted waters in all our schools this year. In honor of the 15th Anniversary of the CHS Hall of Fame, the Aberdeen Public Schools Foundation is embarking on a campaign unite all of our past inductees, families and friends to show our support for our current and future CHS students. Our ambitious goal is to raise $35,000 to establish the CHS Hall of Fame Scholarship Endowment to permanently fund the annual CHS Hall of Fame Scholarship! Will you help us?
The CHS Hall of Fame Scholarship was established in 2008 in memory of Keith Rozendal ’50 by his family, friends, and Rozendal Associates. Keith developed radar reflectors that could make a small decoy drone look like a large airplane. During Desert Storm, this product saved many American pilots’ lives. Keith passed away in September 2002. He was inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame in 2008.
The first CHS Hall of Fame Scholarship was awarded in 2012. The restricted fund awards one $1,000 scholarship to an Aberdeen Central High School graduating senior that best exhibits a combination of all the qualities of a future Hall of Fame inductee… leadership skills, academic excellence, exceptional athletic and fine arts accomplishments, as well as involvement in civic or community groups/events. The Hall of Fame Scholarship is a unique and highly coveted award.
The original intent of the CHS Hall of Fame restricted fund was to pay out the scholarship as long as the funds lasted. We are reaching the point that the funds are running low and we need to do something in order for the scholarship to continue. Our plan is to fund a CHS Hall of Fame Endowment, and we are asking for your help!
Gifts given in memory of Gene Reich, CHS Class of 1969 and CHS Hall of fame 2013, are being designated toward the CHS Hall of Fame Scholarship Endowment.
As of June 30, 2024, the balance of the CHS Hall of Fame Endowment is $20,920.
Please consider a donation to establish the CHS Hall of Fame Endowment! Your generous gift can be in honor or in memory of an inductee or nominee and is tax deductible. We welcome any questions you may have – please contact the Foundation at 605-725-7118 or Gretchen.Sharp@k12.sd.us. Thank you for your consideration.
